Bringing Scotland to life through watercolour and oil paints

Hi, I’m a Scottish artist and illustrator, and when I’m not painting the stunning landscapes and animals around me, I try to share my passion for art with others. My work mostly focuses on watercolour and oil painting, two seemingly alive mediums that allow me to capture the beauty of Scotland in different ways.

Watercolour is my day-to-day choice when I want to bring a sense of speed, colour and movement to my pieces. There’s something magical about how the colours blend, move and flow across the paper, creating wild, unpredictable effects that mirror the ever-changing weather in Scotland. Whether highland cows grazing on misty mornings, or the vibrant feathers on a pheasant as it flies up from the field, watercolour allows me to capture those fleeting moments that feel so present.

But I also love the richness and depth that oil painting brings to my work. Oils give me the chance to play with saturation and layers, creating bold, vibrant pieces. They’re perfect for capturing the dramatic landscapes and intimate portraits of Scotland that I love to paint. Oil paints give me time to really build character into a piece, reflect our changing skies and water ways, and experiment with light in ways that feel satisfying and rewarding, always striking.

One of the things I love best about being an artist is sharing my skills and styles with other people. Whether you’re a beginner or a child wanting to dip your toes into painting for the first time, or you’re an experienced craftsperson looking to try out some new techniques, I offer art classes that work for all levels. I believe everyone has art within them, and I’d love to help you discover that creative spark. You don’t need to be perfect—just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to learn! Even mistakes can create wonderful art.

If you’re interested in learning to paint or simply want to try something different, I’d love to connect with you. Come join me in one of my upcoming classes or take a look at my art portfolio through my shop pages.
